Is this bike stolen?

Type the serial number from the frame. We check it against public stolen bike reports and tell you whether it is clear or needs a closer look. Nothing you type is stored.

Where to find the serial

  • Flip the bike over: most serials are stamped under the bottom bracket shell, where the cranks meet the frame.
  • Other spots: the head tube, the rear dropouts, the top of the seat tube, or on a sticker inside the chainstay.
  • Serials are usually 6 to 12 letters and digits. Read O as the letter and 0 as zero carefully; we normalize spaces and case for you.

What a result means

  • Clear: no public stolen report matches that serial right now. It is not proof of ownership, so still ask the seller for a receipt or a photo of them with the bike.
  • Needs review: a public report matches. Do not complete the deal. We show you the public record so you can read it yourself.

Every bike listed on VeroBike runs this check before it goes live, and again when it is marked sold. Get the app to list with the check built in.
